Let me introduce myself. I am Revd Shaun Speller and was licensed as the new Vicar of the United Benefice of Henlow and Langford on 26 January 2017. You will probably want to know something about me and what I did before I arrived.
Well, I know what it's like to be born and brought up in a village. So originally I come from a village in Essex, not far from Bishops Stortford. After scraping through A Levels I went on to study for a degree in Government at University in Birmingham before working for HM Revenue & Customs (formerly Inland Revenue) for nearly 24 years. I then trained for ordained ministry in the Church of England at Ripon College, Cuddesdon near Oxford between 2011 and 2013, before I was ordained priest at St Albans Abbey in June 2014.
I am married to Ruth and have three children. My pride and joy is my bike which I hope to make use of around and about the benefice. My other great passion is for Rugby and I am a Northampton Saints fan. Sadly my knees no longer allow me to be anything other than a spectator. I look forward to seeing and chatting to you in and around the villages. Please say hello - I don't bite!
